Paradise on Earth! There are various places on this planet
earth which we all consider as paradise especially in India whether they are mountain
ranges of Satpura, Wildlife of Kanha National Park or Jim Corbett tiger
reserve, Glaciers of Gau Mukh, Marina Beach of Chennai and Brahmaputra Delta in
North-East India. We all are eager to see these wonders and pay thousands of
rupees to experience all these places. But are we thinking about the current
status of these places in respect of Climate Change and impact of global
warming. Are we aware of the negative changes occurring in these places are we
concerned about melting glaciers or rise in the sea water or drastic changes in
the aquatic life of Brahmaputra or other rivers or disturbance in wildlife
causing negative impact on Food Chain. Are we aware of rising temperature
during winter or decrease in rainfall during rainy season or High temperature
during summer season even in hill areas? Do we consider ourselves responsible
directly or indirectly for these changes? No we not. But we are. We say reduce
the use of polythene but at the same time we argue with seller to give
polythene but if we use polythene we should use it till the maximum extent it
is also a part of recycling. We say we should recycle products but do we? For
example if someone purchase plastic water bottle and a small leakage occurs we
used to through it but we can use it as pen stand or small flower pot after
some modification. Due to low recycling demand for products doesn’t decrease
and in this way we are contributing towards global warming. We visit various
paradises and throw plastic bags, plastic bottles and other non-biodegradable
waste and in this way we decorate these places and contributing directly to
global warming. Are we aware of waste that oceans have in themselves as a
contribution from us the Human Beings? Are we aware the rate with which
glaciers are melting in the Himalayas and Antarctica? Are we aware of conditions
of polar bears most affected species of Global Warming? Are we aware of
decrease in numbers of Migrating birds? We may not stop all these things but we
can take steps to reduce the negative impacts of global warming. We can recycle
our products, use LED lights, use Air Conditioner only when necessary and try
to plant more trees that will provide food and shelter to birds and fresh air
to us. To keep these wonders intact and alive we have to take steps and it
should start from our individual Level.
